FAQs

  • First, although called a “Stand Up” Paddleboard, you can sit, stand, kneel, or even lie on it. Second, your guide is there to help you stand! Your guide will help instruct you to stand and get you comfortable on the board.

  • It’s all about comfort and weather. Athletic clothing or swimsuits are best. If it’s a chillier day or a morning or evening paddle, feel free to layer up.

That said, wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet. There is a slight chance you may get wet (or decide to take a dip on a hot day!)

You may even want to bring a change of clothes for afterwards, just in case.

  • Being barefoot is encouraged. You’ll have a better feel for the board and it helps to be able to wiggle your toes or move your feet a bit when you’re standing in the same spot for awhile.

But you are welcome to wear shoes if you need support. Water shoes are best. You can wear shoes to the launch site and we’ll have a bin to store them while you’re on the water.

  • Being barefoot or wearing water shoes are preferred while on the board. You’ll have a better sense of the board and an easier time adjusting your stance/feet.

  • Your guide will have a phone for emergencies and will also be taking pictures to share with you. You can leave your phone locked in your vehicle. Your guide can keep your keys locked securely in their own vehicle.

You do not want to have anything with you that you could lose in the water!

  • If you fall in, there is a chance you could lose your glasses. We highly recommend wearing a strap to hold your glasses securely on you. If you do not have one, we sell straps for $3.

  • We will provide everything you need (board, life jacket, leash, paddle) and will take and share pictures. You can bring a water bottle if you’d like (it can be stored under attached bungee straps).

Don’t bring anything you don’t want to get wet! Leave phones in your car and keys can be locked in the guide’s car.

Note: If you are doing an event with your own board, you must provide your own equipment, including leash, PFD, and paddle too.

  • Anyone under 12 years old must wear a life jacket/PFD. Otherwise, one needs to be on the board with you. You may bring your own if you’d like, but we do provide them.

If you do wear one, make sure it is snug and fits appropriately. We provide youth (50-90 lb) and adult (90+ lb) jackets.

  • Our paddles are adjustable and our guides can help you make sure they are the correct size for you.

A general guideline is 6” longer than your height.

  • Your guides will take pictures for you and will share them with you. Some appropriate photos or videos may be shared publicly but can be kept private at client’s request. The terms and conditions explain this further.

  • The guides will stay with the slower clients. Guides will allow faster paddlers to go up ahead to a certain point and wait there for the slower patrons to catch up. Our guides are trained to keep an eye on everyone and pay attention to whom may need extra help or guidance and to keep the group together as much as possible (while still allowing more proficient paddlers a bit of space to challenge themselves if they’d like).

Nobody will be left behind. We keep our tour groups small so we can keep track of everyone.

  • Our fleet consists of three different sizes of boards, with different weight limits. The most common board is our 10’6” long all-around board (a standard beginner size, with versatile usage) which holds 200 lb. We also have a couple 11’6” long boards that hold up to 250 lb. Lastly, our 12’ board is a bit wider and longer and holds up to 400 lb.
